WatchProc problem

Postby Frank » Fri, 16 Mar 2012, 02:24

Hello
I have a WatchProc problem on Win XP pro sp3.
I want to close one application when another application is launched. I thought I had it working with this code:

NoDel
\ the task will be started both when the when TB ends
WatchProc: "thunderbird.exe"
Action:
\ ... performing some useful actions
PROC-CLOSE: dropbox.exe
THINT: "DropBox closed!" 8

procwin.spf is one of the plugins shown in the options/plugins.
This normally works. However, the first time after booting the computer it does nothing. From the second time on, it works fine. Can anyone see what the problem might be?
Thanks
Frank

I apologise for the error in the comment:
\ the task will be started both when the when TB ends
WatchProc: "thunderbird.exe"

I copied the procedure from the nnCron help and modified it to work the way I wanted it. The comment should be:
\ the dropbox.exe task will be stopped when the when TB starts
WatchProc: "thunderbird.exe"

As I stated in the previous post, the procedure works, except the first time after rebooting the machine.
Thanks
Frank

Is nncron started as service?
Is TB started at startup?
Are there any tasks depending on/ of influencing this one?
Maybe pause needed?
Maybe (?) task authorization needed?

Is nncron started as service? - Yes
Is TB started at startup? - No, started much after manually, after DropBox exe has completed syncing.
Are there any tasks depending on/ of influencing this one? -No
Maybe pause needed? - Already has long manual pause.
Maybe (?) task authorization needed? - Don't know, it doesn't need it after 1st lauch of TB. ie. if close TB wait a bit to make sure it is closed, and launch again, WatchProc does trigger and shuts down DropBox.exe
Thanks

But I'm wondering if anyone else has already been using nncron in W7... successfully or unsuccessfully? I gather from Google translating the Russian forum that several people are using nncron in W7 but it's no exactly easy to decipher the translations at all times so any input in English would be preferable!

On Windwos 7:
Code: Select all
D:\nnCron\nncron.exe -ns -dir D:\nnCron

-ns — no service.
And nncron work nice.
